Monade (2). Own Your Ghost ‎(11xFile, MP3, Album, 320). Progressions, melody, tone. These three constants run through Your Own Ghost like blood in an arterial system; the sustenance provided will keep your grey matter on it's toes even as the splendid atmospheres of Monade soothe your troubles away. An album for dark, wintery reflections and an album given over to reflective moments that will have your thoughts curling in upon themselves. The endless, infinite divisibles of mathematics have their hour on Your Own Ghost and for the duration we become abstract patterns of consciousness.

Mona Mur - Delinquent (2019). Monade - Au Contraire (2017). Monade - Own Your Ghost (2013).

Monade - Own Your Ghost. Winter is passing, spring will soon take over. A little late we are, but Monade managed to capture the true 2013 dark winter feeling. Fragile and tender melancholica from beyond. Known from his debute ' last year here at Xtraplex Roberto Donato evolves within the same artistic walls of pure electronics and golden era inspired IDM but with a more sophisticated sense of tender sound arranging

While Exai is agonized over and dissected piece by piece, Monade's new record manages to do what tired dinosaurs have abandoned in pursuit of relevancy: incarnate the imagination. Bright and vivid compositions explode with both light and shade in perfect balance. This is the second work by Roberto Donato and is a sumptuous feast for the senses. There are glorious, extended passages of ambient perfection and also you will find jarring beats mixing it up in a kind of surrealistic installation that by turns soothes and sears the psyche. The journey is there, the path laid out in front of you but the choice is yours and yours alone... do we plunge into the extremities of mind or do we remain tethered to what is known and comfortingly reassuring. The cynic in me wants to inform our readers that these twittering glitches and disconcerting jabs of machinery gone off the rails are what past their sell by date bands from the 1980s utilize to give their unfinished, static sketches an 'organic' feel. This is how one does these things correctly. Your mind can easily flesh out the rest, there is no need for any guide markers. Either Monade's new work appeals to you or it does not and it is this lack of a muddling middle ground which sets this group so far apart from the established norms of whatever IDM is considered now. Perhaps the intelligent quotient is what I'm hearing here, and if that is the case, I don't want to even know what the other two letters stand for.Progressions, melody, tone. To play amidst the light and shade of contrasting doctrines and to know somehow that there is a reason we're unable to understand. This label continues to release dynamic, resolute material. Now on their fourteenth outing, Xtraplex are becoming highly stylized in who and what they choose to put out. I hope they didn't think I'd forgotten, because that would be impossible.
