Gluecifer is a hard rock band based in Oslo, Norway. Formed in 1994, they produced several underground releases during their first years of existence and soon claimed to be "kings of rock". In 1997, the album Ridin' the Tiger (released on record label White Jazz) provided an artistic and commercial breakthrough and placed Gluecifer among Hellacopters from Sweden at the forefront of the Scandinavian hard rock wave of the late 1990s.

The Hellacopters are a Swedish garage rock band that was formed in 1994 by Nicke Andersson (vocals and guitar), Andreas Tyrone "Dregen" Svensson (guitar), Kenny Håkansson (bass) and Robert Eriksson (drums). Andersson (sometimes known as Nick Royale) had been the drummer for death metal band Entombed and Dregen was taking a break from his full-time band Backyard Babies. Dregen and Eriksson had been roadies for Entombed, while Håkansson was a childhood friend of Andersson's.

Remember the 1990's a LOT of good rock bands on "pop" radio, and Stoner rock was my underground fav style of rock then. 8 months ago. Peep shows, turbonego, skelett, etc. oh and 69 eyes.

Respect the Rock America is a ten-song "split" CD that focuses on two gritty, guitar-powered rock outfits: Gluecifer and the Hellacopters. Half of the CD's ten songs are by Gluecifer, while the other half are by the less angry Hellacopters. When you hear Gluecifer and the Hellacopters, you're transported back to a time when you could turn on an album rock station and expect to hear ZZ Top, Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes, Deep Purple, Status Quo, Bob Seger, and Humble Pie (among others) in the course of a half-hour. The biggest difference between the two is the fact that Gluecifer has more of a consistently angry edge.
